On norms of composition operators acting on Bergman spaces

For arbitrary composition operators acting on a general Bergman space we improve the known lower bound for the norm and also generalize a related recent theorem of D.G. Pokorny and J.E. Shapiro. Next, we obtain a geometric formula for the norms of composition operators with linear fractional symbols, thus extending a result of C. Cowen and P. Hurst and revealing the meaning of their computation. Finally, we obtain a lower bound for essential norm of an arbitrary composition operator related to the well-known criterion of B. MacCluer and J.H. Shapiro. As a corollary, norms and essential norms are obtained for certain univalently induced noncompact composition operators in terms of the minimum of the angular derivative of the symbol.     

New characterizations of Hajlasz-Sobolev spaces on metric spaces

This paper introduces the fractional Sobolev spaces on spaces of homogeneous type,includingmetric spaces and fractals. These Sobolev spaces include the well-known Hajfasz-Sobolev spaces as specialmodels.The author establishes varions chaaracterizations of(sharp)maximal functions for these spaces.Asapplications,the author identifies the fractional Sobolev spaces with some Lipscitz-type spaces.Moreover;some embedding theorems are also given.     

Probabilistic and Average Linear Widths of Sobolev Space with Gaussian Measure in L \infty-Norm

In this paper we investigate the probabilistic linear $(n,\delta)$-widths and $p$-average linear $n$-widths of the Sobolev space $W^r_2$ equipped with the Gaussian measure $\mu$ in the $L_{\infty}$-norm, and determine the asymptotic equalities \begin{eqnarray*} \lambda_{n,\delta}(W^r_2,\mu,L_{\infty}) &\asymp&\frac{\sqrt{\ln (n/\delta)}}{n^{r+(s-1)/2}},\\[3pt] \lambda^{(a)}_n(W^r_2,\mu,L_{\infty})_p &\asymp&\frac{\sqrt{\ln n}}{n^{r+(s-1)/2}}, \qquad 0 < p < \infty. \end{eqnarray*}     

On the stationary Lp-approximation power to derivatives by radial basis function interpolation

In this paper, we consider approximation to derivatives of a function by using radial basis function interpolation. Most of well-known theories for this problem provide error analysis in terms of the so-called native space, say C_φ. However, if a basis function φ is smooth, the space C_φ is extremely small. Thus, the purpose of this study is to extend this result to functions in the homogenous Sobolev space.     

Iterative Schemes for Nonconvex Variational Inequalities

In this paper, we suggest and analyze some iterative methods for solving nonconvex variational inequalities using the auxiliary principle technique, the convergence of which requires either only pseudomonotonicity or partially relaxed strong monotonicity. Our proofs of convergence are very simple. As special cases, we obtain earlier results for solving general variational inequalities involving convex sets.     

The Module Structure Theorem for Sobolev Spaces on Open Manifolds

We prove a general embedding theorem for Sobolev spaces on open manifolds of bounded geometry and infer from this the module structure theorem. Thereafter we apply this to weighted Sobolev spaces.

Preparation of Papers

We motivate the study of a vector variational inequality by a practical flow equilibrium problem on a network, namely a generalization of the well-known Wardrop equilibrium principle. Both weak and strong forms of the vector variational inequality are discussed and their relationships to a vector optimization problem are established under various convexity assumptions.     

The Equivalence of Several Basic Theorems for Subdifferentials

Several different basic tools are used for studying subdifferentials. They are a nonlocal fuzzy sum rule in (Borwein et al., 1996; Zhu, 1996), a multidirectional mean value theorem in (Clarke and Ledyaev, 1994; Clarke et al., 1998), local fuzzy sum rules in (Ioffe, 1984, 1990) and an extremal principle in (Kruger and Mordukhovich, 1980; Mordukhovich, 1976, 1980, 1994). We show that all these basic results are equivalent and discuss some interesting consequences of this equivalence.     

Semi-classical limit of the bottom of spectrum of a Schrödinger operator on a path space over a compact Riemannian manifold

We determine the limit of the bottom of spectrum of Schrödinger operators with variable coefficients on Wiener spaces and path spaces over finite-dimensional compact Riemannian manifolds in the semi-classical limit. These are extensions of the results in [S. Aida, Semiclassical limit of the lowest eigenvalue of a Schrödinger operator on a Wiener space, J. Funct. Anal. 203 (2) (2003) 401-424]. The problem on path spaces over Riemannian manifolds is considered as a problem on Wiener spaces by using Ito's map. However the coefficient operator is not a bounded linear operator and the dependence on the path is not continuous in the uniform convergence topology if the Riemannian curvature tensor on the underling manifold is not equal to 0. The difficulties are solved by using unitary transformations of the Schrödinger operators by approximate ground state functions and estimates in the rough path analysis.
